Let’s talk about two trade-offs we face every day: how we spend our time and money. There are many things we can do with our money. Money spent on one thing isn’t available to spend on another. Also, there are many things we can do with our time. We can spend time doing one job or another. We can spend time with family. We can spend time in leisure.
Start your discussion by responding to these questions:
Describe a trade-off you have made in terms of your income or your time.
What choice did you make with your money or time?
Why did you make that choice?
Please respond to classmates post, who made a trade-off in their post to which you can relate. Discuss and compare your decisions.
Hello Class,
Money and time seem to tie together for me in a lot of ways. For instance, many years ago I wanted to go back to school and finish my degree, but I was working 3 part-time jobs and a full-time job. I made the decision to keep my time focused on bringing in money, instead of spending money losing income from at least two of the part-time jobs. Twenty years later, I made the choice to trade free time for studying by finally returning to school. That same decision meant pulling some money out of my 401k to keep the student loans lower. An investment in my future that I believe will lead to more money going into that 401k.
