Develop a Training Manual
It should include (but is not limited to) the following:
Basic orientation information
Restaurant information (address, phone, hours, etc.)
Concept information (Mexican, Sports Bar, etc.)
Mission statement
Welcome letter from GM
Standard Restaurant policies
Pay days, service periods, parking, uniforms, shift change policy, tardiness policy, sexual harassment policy, etc.
Job description
5 day training plan (or as required)(Not less than 3 for this project)
Performance standards
materials required for training (These will vary based on your position)
(examples – for server)
menus
dining room lay out
service sequence
special items
POS information
Side work list (open & close)
Any other misc. materials
Note – a cook would need a menu, some recipes, prep lists, station diagram.
Performance Evaluation materials
Anything else you see as valuable in training.
