“The Human Bumblebee”
Critical Responseformatting. That 600 words should address/cover/respond to/ the following three things:
After reading “The Human Bumblebee,” which is the introduction to Michael Pollan’s memoir The Botany of Desire, write about 600 words, roughly two pages, double-spaced, in APA
Begin with an introductory paragraph or two that summarizes what Pollan is saying in this section. Be sure to name the author and title in this paragraph.
Connect the overall analogy to your own life with at least three direct quotes (and three parenthetical citations) from Pollan’s piece. The best manner for this is three paragraphs, each having at least one direct quote. Add some connective, expansive commentary after each quote as well. Quotes should not begin or end a paragraph. Include a direct quote in each paragraph from a secondary source as well (a related, credible source you draw from the Internet that expands the discussion or further explains, supports your thinking/response).
Be sure to bring in one credible, secondary source as well.
Conclude with a succinct paragraph that restates the connection and/or other important info, and DOES NOT PRESENT ANY NEW INFORMATION.
You can write more than 5 paragraphs if you have more to say; you can also bring in other sources, but must quote and cite.
Just remember, never write to a length (excepting when asked to), but, rather, be complete with as much length as is needed.
You must have a creative title.
An APA References page is needed (at least two sources).
Things that do matter: Descriptive language (adjectives and adverbs), transitional language, sentence variety, structure, quote construction, in-text citations, commentary, clean grammar, creative title, to name a bunch.
I am looking for clean and clear writing that says something meaningful, personal, etc. This is a college-level reading and writing assignment.
Example from a college freshman here (in APA formatting)
