Now that you’ve read about Newsjacking and reviewed some examples, it’s time to attempt this strategy for yourself.
First, select a brand that you would like to use for this exercise. This can be any brand that’s of interest to you. Second, search through any online news feeds and find a news story that you would like to Newsjack. Then, for your blog post, tell us what brand you’ve chosen (provide a link to brand’s home page in case everyone isn’t familiar with the brand) and tell us what new story you’ll be using (provide one or more links to some news articles about the story).
Pretend that you work in the PR department of your selected brand and that you are going to pitch your Newsjacking idea to your boss. Describe how, as a PR professional, you would go about your Newsjacking. What steps would you take? What creative ideas do you have? What platforms might you use? Provide some details about the text, images, and/or video that you would create. You can even create some samples if you would like.
Be sure you support your decisions based on the content we’ve been covering and explain why you think your ideas would be effective for the brand.
