HEALTH STATUS COMPARISON
Throughout this course, you will engage in a project which requires you to apply the knowledge and skills that you are learning.
In this scenario, you are a State Public Health. You are asked to describe and compare the health status and health policies in the two states. You have to identify the differences and inequalities in these two and between of them and establish a conclusion . Which one is the healthier state?
Your report will have the following components :
1.- Introduction . ( 2 pages). General description of the two states including: location, demography, social and economic factors ( income, education etc )
2. Description of the of the health status of these two states . Comparison ( 5 pages
o Morbidity
o Mortality
o Life expectancy
o Infant mortality
o Trends in the last 10 years
o Inequalities by : race/ ethnicity, income , education , location etc
o Health polices
3. Describe the most relevant health polices in these two states ( 2 pages )
4.- Not for profit organization analysis ( 3 pages ) t
Based on the data for NYS, you will select a prevalent condition. You will choose an organization which is working in NYS to tackle this condition .For this organization, you will describe:
1) What is the purpose of this organization?
2) In what way this organization contributes to improve the condition selected
3) Who are the stakeholders?
4) Is this organization effective in what they do? How do you know? What are its indicators of effectiveness? Do you think it is making a difference?
5) How else would you propose?
