Essay: The CUNY EDGE/Mitsui USA Scholarship Selection Committee is interested in identifying CUNY EDGE candidates who are preparing for careers that will enable them to contribute to society. The essay will weigh very heavily in the selection process. The entire essay must not exceed eight (8) pages (double-spaced), and must address all of the following items:
Personal Statement: Describe yourself (who you are and who/what you aspire to be) and why you are a strong candidate for the CUNY EDGE/Mitsui USA Scholarship.
Personal Challenges: Please describe significant barriers or challenges you have faced in pursuing your academic and professional goals. Discuss how you were able to overcome any such barriers, which barriers remain, and how you will address them. Note: The barriers should not be limited to financial constraints.
Time Management: Please explain how you balance your coursework with other obligations, e.g. employment, parenting responsibilities, HRA work requirements, extracurricular activities, etc.
Future Plans: Please discuss your future educational plans and how your education will help you make a contribution to society.
