After reading TIP 42 Chapter Four, submit a Word document addressing the following:
Select one diagnosis within one of these four categories to explore further: Depressive disorders, Bipolar and related disorders, Anxiety disorders, or Psychotic disorders. Identify the diagnosis and explain the diagnostic criteria.
Provide prevalence data, explaining what the information means.
Review the “Advice to the Counselor” box associated with the diagnostic category you are exploring. Identify two of the tips that you were new or interesting to you and explain how you plan to address those tips.
Describe what substance-induced mental disorders are and identify the substance(s) associated with the substance-induced mental disorder of the category you have chosen to focus on (see pg. 122).
How would address suicide and trauma with a client with your selected diagnosis?
Explain the extent of treatment you could provide a client with your selected diagnosis, if you are a clinician credentialed by the OCDP Board.
You must use TIP 42 and two credible external references (such as the suggested websites with the chapter lecture or peer-reviewed journal articles). Do NOT simply copy and paste diagnostic criteria or prevalence data – you must explain the information to demonstrate your understanding of the material. To adequately address all of this information your paper should be at least 3 pages in length (not including a cover page or references page). Be sure to use proper in-text citations.
