Clip 3 substantial macroeconomic articles about GDP determination, current slow growth, or unemployment [hint, these are effectively the same topic] from a recent news source (major newspaper: New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times; business magazine: Business Week, Fortune, Forbes. Not The Economist, not a blog or opinion piece). You need business articles written by journalists (not economists, it is your responsibility to make sure) that try to explain why?, not articles describing what? 5 pages. Your paper will summarize and evaluate the analytical points the articles make. What are their assumptions about how the economy works? How do their arguments reflect economic theories discussed in class (Keynesian vs. Classical)? Do they provide consistent arguments? If so, which economic perspective is implicit? Or do they take a Chinese-menu approach (one from column A, one from column B)? If they provide only ad hoc explanations, what is wrong with their “common-sense” reasoning? Does their rhetoric itself indicate their paradigm stance?
