The student learning outcome for our course is the completion of a history essay. To
complete the student learning outcome, you will apply your critical thinking and research
skills to formulate a historical inquiry. A historical inquiry essay requires you to
answer a research question. The objective of the assignment is to compare sources,
showing how different historians and scholars have analyzed an event, individual, or
group. You will discuss the history of your topic by synthesizing and analyzing primary
and secondary sources. The final essay will highlight your mastery of the topic and the course and provide answer(s) to your research question.
