My name______, a senior here at ——-. I am deeply concerned about the unfair treatment received by a professor at this university. The sociology department’s Dr_______assigned me an unjustified grade in one of his classes. In SOCI 02 – Senior Thesis, students are asked to write a capstone paper. After reviewing my final feedback for my thesis paper, I am not able to understand why my paper received a 40% mark. According to my academic record, I have worked hard since I began this semester. My sincere concern is that Dr. ____has been biased against me when grading my paper and throughout the course. I believe that my paper was graded in a biased manner based off of my submission to the Shepherd Writing Center and Tutor.com. In addition to submitting my paper with the rubric, Tutor.com deemed my paper worthy with some corrections, but I received a 40%. The 40% given is in no correlation to the two accredited sources I used, provided by the University. Before I began the semester _____, “Based on your performance in theory, you are not prepared for the thesis.” Week after week, after meeting with him, I have demonstrated that I was willing to put in the effort. Since the beginning of the semester, I have been diligently studying for both his classes. According to my Zoom meeting on April, 7th 2022 he spoke about the manner of my paper. Specifically, on that day Dr. _____ stated, “Dr. ______said try not to tell people that they’re going to fail.” Immediately following, he directly stated, “I’m not going to tell you that you’re going to fail, but your chances are slim.” Because of this, I believe that he was biased when determining my final grade. I would truly like a justifiable answer for all 34 pages of my thesis. Additionally,_____states specifically in his syllabus, “Note that there is an extra credit opportunity for taking your final draft to a tutor.” However, I do not see any entries for extra credit points in my records. I hold myself to a high standard, and again I have worked diligently to succeed in this course. I will do whatever it takes to make sure my hard work is acknowledged and fairly compensated.
