**DO NOT NEED REFERENCES OR TITLE PAGE**
The purpose of this assignment is to encourage students to reflect upon key findings from the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) 2014 Report: Dying in America. Specifically, this assignment will encourage you to think critically about the recommendations, identify the most pressing issue for your social work practice, and identify strategies you might employ to address this need. It will also provide experience about how to thoroughly and concisely prepare for supervision meetings.
Imagine you are now a licensed social worker working for an agency supporting older adults; your supervisor has presented you with the IOM’s Dying in America Executive Summary. Your supervisor has asked you to use the report to identify an issue your agency will try to address in the coming year. Assuming this role, respond to the following questions in approximately 150-200 words:
Briefly describe what agency you see yourself working for and the role you see yourself taking. (For example: a Hospice social worker; an intake coordinator at an assisted living facility; an ICU social worker in a large teaching hospital; etc. etc.)
In this setting and in your role, what issue from the IOM report would you identify as most immediately applicable to and pressing for your agency and the older adults you support?
Provide one possible strategy your agency could use to address this issue in the coming year. This can include but is not limited to: an new intervention for clients; education/training; public outreach; advocating for a policy change. Provide a sentence or two describing what the strategy would entail.
