The Critical Response Paper should be based on a scholarly article No Title Paper should begin with the source, following proper MLA citation format guidelines. The paper should include quotes from the article. Tips for Success Identify the author’s thesis statement. What is the thesis statement? How does it function in the context of the article? Why is the thesis statement this sentence? Etc. Make sure your paper has a thesis statement based on the author’s thesis, methodology, and/or central points. Make sure to give examples, which elaborate the author’s thesis statement and central points. As you read the article, take notes and highlight. You should develop your own critical analysis of the article. Focus on your paper’s organization to build to a meaningful conclusion. The conclusion should identify the author’s purpose for the article. Outside sources can be helpful, especially comparatively or contrastingly. However, do not get lost; this assignment is NOT a comparison/contrast essay. Do not let this be confused with using them in your paper. Writing Tips Do not begin quotes with an ellipsis (…). The document should have a proper MLA format and use proper MLA in-text citations. Remember at minimum this paper is two pages long; two pages mean to the end of the page.
There shouldn’t be a quote in the introduction paragraph. There should be direct quotes from the article and the poem by Edgar Allan Poe, and they shouldn’t be reworded.
