The study of comparison of the anti-poverty policy and the policies to reduce economic inequality between the United States of America and Republic of Korea, with stress on government’s interventions such as education system, tax policy, minimum wage legislation, and subsidization of products, is the centre of interest. This paper studies and researches the different aspects between the two countries in terms of social welfare, which contributes to reducing poverty rate and inequality. This comparative analysis shows precedent social protection, the political changes over time and the challenges, which have formed the current policies to move forward and improve the current situation. This research also goes further to analyse social programs; health care insurance, which can bring another effect on inequality.
