1) How are Confidence Intervals and Hypothesis Tests related?
2)What is statistical power? Why is it important? Can a test be under-powered? What are the problems with an under-powered test. Can a test be over-powered? What indicates that a test is over-powered? As what stage in the testing process should statistical power be calculated? What can go wrong estimating statistical power?
3)What p-value mean and how we interpret them?
COLLAPSE
What are p-values? Some people claim that a p-value is the probability of getting a result from a hypothesis test under the assumption that the null hypothesis is correct or true.
It is an acceptable explanation of what a p-value actually is? Do we ever consider the null or alternate hypotheses to be “true”? Are p-values really about “truth”?
How should p-values be interpreted?
Discuss why understanding what p-values actually communication is critical to understanding NHST.
