In your profession, you create booklets for a training company. Your company has been hired to teach basic financial management principles to entry-level engineering and computer science employees. These employees have never had a business or finance course.
The purpose of the booklet is to provide an overview of financial management along with an understanding of the various components of financial management. The booklet should be complete enough that it covers everything a business student should know after concluding a financial management course. This booklet can be made through a powerpoint. Course Objectives: Completion of this course will enable the student to describe and explain financial ratio analysis, cash budgets, stock and bond valuation, time value of money, and other key financial techniques used by financial managers in the modern business environment. Students must demonstrate knowledge of the material through practical application in the following ways:
1.Identify and explain the forms of business organizations and the basics of corporate taxation.
2.Evaluate the performance of a firm by analyzing its financial statements and interpret its financial ratios.
3.Demonstrate the ability to develop a statement of cash flows and interpret future financial needs of a company.
4.Demonstrate the ability to develop pro-forma income statements and balance sheets by using the percentage of sales method.
5.Demonstrate the ability to measure the market value and required rates of return for stocks and bonds.
6.Explain and use a hurdle rate (discount rate), NPV, IRR, and payback methods of project evaluation.
7.Identify the capital structure of a company and explain the tax consideration in developing a weighted cost of capital.
8.Demonstrate the ability to use manual models and computer spreadsheets to perform various financial techniques.
grading scale
90-100: A booklet that could be used in the business world with little to no changes. The end product is professional, including cosmetics, grammar, and organization.
80-89: A booklet that is well done that covers most of the material but is not ready to be used by the business world because it lacks significant content or is not professional.
70-79: A booklet that covers the main topics but lacks sufficient detail. The professional quality may also impact the grade.
60-69: A booklet that is missing many topics, both large and small. The professional quality may also impact the grade.
<60: A booklet that lacks substance and professionalism.
