Assignment Guidelines:
Topic Selection
·
You must select a different topic than the ones I cover as
examples. You can still use any of the scenes I discuss; they just need to
generate a different conclusion. Find your own relationship and insight to the
text, and write about what captures your attention.
·
Other than that, pick whatever topic you want that completes the
assignment.
Formatting
·
3-4 full pages (the length will be strictly enforced).
·
Typed in size twelve Times New Roman font and double spaced.
·
Have an appropriate and creative title (not the assignment title).
·
You must have a heading, single spaced in the top left of
your paper. The first line will contain your name and the second your course
number and section.
·
Follow proper MLA citation format (consult the Purdue OWL or QCC
LibGuide for specific formatting guidelines) and employ both in-text citations
and a Works Cited page (which does not count toward the page length).
Research
·
Use 4 sources:
o
The film
o
2 peer-reviewed sources
o
Any other reliable source.
·
Cite from either the film or the sources in every body paragraph.
Style
·
Follow proper essay format and employ formal, college-level,
standard written English.
·
This is an analysis; do not spend a bunch of time summarizing the
film. Write as though the reader has seen the movie.
·
Writing this essay—all writing, really—goes better if you deeply
focus on a few, powerful moments in the story instead of just briefly touching
on a lot of things. Dig deep into the specifics.
