class which focuses on family violence across the lifespan. The course
description of my class as described in my syllabus:
This course
examines the problems and consequences of family violence across the lifespan and
its impact on children within a sociocultural context. It presents theoretical,
research, policy and practice issues involving intra-familial child abuse and
neglect, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse, as well as related issues.
It explores individual and group level interventions, structural influences on
family violence, and policy implications in the field of social work. In
addition, the course will emphasize rights to safety, and safety planning for
populations at-risk within the context of social justice with an emphasis on
how interdisciplinary approaches can assist in the empowerment of survivors of
abuse.
