In lieu of a final, you should post on the Discussion Board a paper of 1,000 words discussing some aspect of the work which had the most impact on you. Be sure to use specific examples, including direct quotations, to illustrate your response. You might, for example, focus on a character you found compelling or on a theme (e.g., xenia or restraint in the Odyssey, loyalty or leadership in the Ramayana, or fortune or justice in the Knight’s Tale). Remember that these are just topic ideas; you will need to craft a thesis which takes a position on your topic and then support that position in the body of your paper with examples and quotations from the literary work (and, if you wish, from secondary sources).
Note: Be sure that your thesis takes a position on your topic that you can argue and support; it should not be a statement of fact. I urge you to send your thesis to me via email before your write the paper.
