In order to proceed with a philosophical inquiry into ethics (i.e. an inquiry into how we ought to live our lives) it is perhaps prudent to begin by considering the nature of values proper (i.e., metaethics). In doing so, one of the first-order questions we are forced to ask ourselves is whether or not moral values are objective or relative/subjective. In light of the readings we have explored on this subject matter, what is your standpoint in regard to this metaethical question? Herein, be sure to provide at least three reasons/arguments that support your outlook; in addition, be sure to consider at least two counter arguments/challenges against your position which you will provide responses for. As you formulate your reasons and responses, be sure to incorporate at least references/sources from the syllabus, the sections on moral philosophy.
