1.What is/are the main ethical dilemma(s) in the film? Consider the physician in the story. Her advice to the family is outside of the box. What is your obligation to follow this plan of care? How would you engage other social workers if you were the only social worker in the community? Do you agree with the plan of care? Are you apposed? Either way what is your next step? (Chapter 7), Is there a conflict between your responsibility to your client and your colleagues? Is there a conflict between your values and the physician’s values? 25 pts
2.(Chapter 8) Imagine you are the only social worker in a rural health department that provides a variety of services to support the community. What is your responsibility to the agency in this case? Which case studies in Chapter 7 and 8 best lines up with the conflict in this film? Why? 25 pts
3. Look to the ethics literature (see resources on Bb). Is there guidance surrounding mental health treatment and mental health stigma? Are there scholars critical of diagnosis? Are you able to find anything about Madness studies? How does the literature assist you in what can be done? How does the literature confuse the topic? Why is consultation important in these complex situations? 25 pts.
4. Which ethical framework would you use in Chapter 2 to face this situation? Why?
