1. Write a 100~200 words abstract that include the following:
One to three sentences to introduce the issue and its significance
One sentence that presents the main research question
One to three sentences with your tentative answer, your working thesis, using the following formula: TS = O + S + A + Rs / Thesis Sentence (TS) = Opposition (O) + Subject (S) + Assertion (A) + Reasons (Rs)
In-text citations as needed
2. Create an annotated bibliography that includes the following (100~200 words):
At least three sources for your research project, including two scholarly peer-reviewed articles from academic journals and one primary source, and any other sources you may use. Include enough sources to show that you have found a counterargument, alternative approaches to your topic, or alternative evidence. Point out which sources support your view, counter your view, or present alternative viewpoints.
A two-sentence annotation for each source: a) 1 sentence that summarizes the source’s argument/significance as it relates to your project, and b) 1 sentence that explains how you plan on using the source in your paper, using the “DAB” approach (data, argument, background).
Source entries that are written in correct MLA format (they do not have to be indented as they will be on the Works Cited page you submit with your final paper, but they should include all necessary citation information, correctly punctuated and font formatted)
