After selecting your fictional character, respond to each of the following prompts. Use complete sentences and APA style in your response.
Prompts:
Briefly identify and describe the tv show, the selected episode, or the movie. Briefly identify and describe the selected character (e.g., name, age, gender, ethnicity, etc.).
From the readings, there are three ways that can help determine when someone becomes an adult – the objective, psychological, and subjective criteria.
Explicitly define each of these approaches (i.e., objective, psychological, subjective).
Using these approaches, would the character be in the adolescent or early adulthood stage? Why or why not? Provide evidence from the readings or other scholarly literature to justify your response.
Describe the character’s current development in each of the following domains. For each domain, be sure to explicitly identify and define/describe one key concept from the readings. The selected key concept and its description should match the developmental period selected for the character. So, for example, if you note that the character is in adolescence, the descriptions should match the adolescent period of development.
Physical (e.g., growth spurts, height, weight, etc.)
Cognitive (e.g., Piagetian stage and it’s characteristics, plasticity, intelligence, etc.)
Socioemotional development (e.g., changing friendships, relationships with parents, intimate relationship choices, etc.)
Is the character’s development consistent with research or current trends for a person at this stage? Why or why not? Provide evidence from the readings or other scholarly literature to justify your response.
Identify and describe two contextual factors that might be influencing the character’s development.
Given the character’s choices/behavior, what predictions do you have about his/her developmental trajectory? Provide a prediction for each domain of development (i.e., physical, cognitive, socioemotional).
