I need a position paper written for World Issues on why abortion should be legalized. I have two reasons already, it won’t prevent abortions and pro-lifers are adoption isn’t the best alternative due to the countless children already being in foster homes.

With
new abortion laws coming into place, there has been a heated conflict between
pro-life and pro-choice. First off, what
is an abortion? Abortion is a medical method in which they remove the fetus
from a uterus. I have read many pro-choice essays and arguments and they all
have relatively the same ideas. “Abortion is murder, and it’s the new
generation’s way of shrugging off accountability”.
The criminalization of
abortion will not end abortions, it will make abortions unsafe for those with a
uterus. Instead of having it in a safe way, people would be forced to pursue
illegal and extremely unsafe methods. In 2018, the Argentine Senate rejected a
bill that would have decriminalized abortion in the country within the first fourteen
weeks of pregnancy. Less than a week later, a thirty-four-year-old woman died
from an illegal abortion. (Khazan) This is just one upon thousands of examples.
There’s a constant
argument among those who are pro-life that abortion is murder, and they should
rather carry out the unwanted pregnancy so they can put the child into
adoption. Adoption is not a reliable and ideal alternative to abortion, it’s
traumatic. There are currently 144 thousand children and youth in out-of-home
care. Although abortion may also be traumatic, it’s more painful to go through
a long process where you must give away the baby that you’ve already bonded
with. Which’ll leave those with a uterus wanting to keep their baby, even
though they may not have good circumstances.
