Directors Concept

For our last activity, you are going to read one of the five plays posted here, and develop a Director’s Concept. This task can be seen as quite daunting, but truly, it is up to the imagination of the director. It can be straightforward or it can be
whimsical. It should include research of the idea and of the play chosen. Many of the information available and the ideas you have can be found on the internet. No need to worry about a library, or even reference material, other than for example. Do
reference other plays or even movies or shows, or history or books or historical content that interest you. There are no
wrong answers, only too little information.
Director’s Concepts are two to three pages and include the research of the play, its characters and the design aspects the
director is looking for. These include: Mood, Atmosphere, Color, Symbols, Costumes, Space, the Use of Light and Dark, and
Focus on a particular Period, Style or Metaphor the director wishes to express. Once, you have read the play you pick (Their
synopsis will be listed below the PDF link.) you will need to decide on how you want to visualize the production. No holds
bar; but, you MUST be able to express your ideas fully and your concept completely realized.
Play to be used for this assignment: (There is no reason for you to stick to the time period these plays are written in!)
