The final project for this class will be to research a real life organization and explain how they conduct/manage their purchasing and/or supply chain management activities. Explain how important having an efficient purchasing and/or supply chain managment organization is for the success of the company. The project will be free style but at a College level. Feel free to direct your learning towards your interests in the subject matter.
The final paper should be a minimum of 5-6 paragraphs long, 11 to 12 sized font, and double spaced. Paragraphs should be organized as follows:
First Paragraph – Introduction and information about the company you have chosen to research.
Paragraphs 2-4 – Pick a subject from 3-4 chapters from the textbook to apply to your chosen company. You can use the chapter discussion questions posted in the weekly webex annoucements to guide your research and writing. Write a paragraph applying each of the chapters’ content to your company. Use vocabulary words from the chapters in your writing. For example, if you choose to apply a concept from chapter 2, then vocabulary from the chapter such as ‘competitive advantage’ and/or ‘product marketing strategy’ should be used and the paragraph should provide more details about how or why the company follows the strategy.
Final Paragraph – Conclusions drawn from your research about your company. Some conclusion examples may answer some of the following questions but are not the only conclusions you can write about:
Does the company have a supply chain management model considered to be ‘best in class’ in their market?
What improvement could the company make to their SCM/purchasing practices?
What is in the future for the company’s supply chain management practices? Will they need to change?
Is the company’s current supply chain management model keeping the company competitive?
What technologies might the company use within their purchasing organization in the future?
Are there disruptions facing the company that puts them at a disadvantage now or in the future?
