topic(s) I would like for each of you to discuss throughout the week. Refer to
the textbook, weekly materials, and/or the GMC library when
researching the topics for this Discussion Forum. Put your writing into your
own words, do not copy directly from the source. If you incorporate
external resources (http://gmcga.libguides.com/periodicals) in
your posts be sure to cite (https://gmcga.libguides.com/citationmanagement/APA7th) them
properly. Lastly, review how to paraphrase and quote resources before you
begin posting (http://gmcga.libguides.com/c.php?g=458&p=996448).
We learned about big data in
Chapter 1, Introduction to Systems Analysis and Design, when learning
about trends in information technology. In Chapter 9, Data Design, we
revisit the vast amounts of data being produced and how businesses are
utilizing data science to gain valuable information from the data being
collected for decision making. It is important to consider the storage of
large datasets as a part of the information gathering process. Discuss how
data warehousing, data marts, and data mining are utilized in businesses
to extract the valuable information and large amounts of data being
collected. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of data warehousing
and data marts, and consider some of the issues associated with data
mining. After researching to find information about these topics,
determine whether the benefits of creating data warehouses or data marts
and storing vast amounts of data outweigh the associated issues with these
processes. Provide documentation to support your reasoning.
Compare a traditional
client/server architecture to an Internet-based architecture. Discuss some
of the advantages and disadvantages of each architecture. Determine
whether Internet-based architecture is better than client/server
architecture and whether you think Internet-based architecture will
replace client/server architecture. Provide documentation through your
research to support your reasoning.
