Here are the instructions for this assignment I have picked an article and I have also uploaded
Journal Article Review #1
Journal Article Review #1
Instead of searching for the articles on your own, you will have to select one from the link provided here (Strategies for Supporting Secondary School Students’ Reading Development):
https://ies.ed.gov/ncee/edlabs/regions/southwest/publications.aspx.
Please keep clicking until you open PDF/Full Text file (Read, Review, Download, Print), so that you have authors’ names and other info for the accurate references in APA style.
“Read and download the report” (on the bottom) – Download a PDF file – Look for actual author names of the article such as Miller, T., Garland, M., & Gerdeman, D. (2020).
A. Choose one article for this assignment and save another for the next review assignment. Some examples of the articles include:
Alternative Career Readiness Measures for Small and Rural Districts in Texas
Participation in State-Funded Prekindergarten in Oklahoma
College Enrollment and Completion among Texas High School Graduates with a Disability
Using Logic Modeling for Statewide School Improvement Efforts Training
Impact of providing information to parents in Texas about the role of Algebra II in college admission
Teacher certification and academic growth among English learner students in the Houston Independent School District
Trends in teacher mobility in Texas and associations with teacher, student, and school characteristics
Associations between predictive indicators and postsecondary science, technology, engineering, and math success among Hispanic students in Texas
B. Create 2 critical thinking questions before reading.
They can be your predictions from the title or/and any inquiries that you want to learn after reading the article. At the end, present your own answers to your questions, based on the information within the article as well as from your outside research. Please add the resources or website addresses if obtained from your own research.
C. The Summary of the Article:
Provide a concise and thorough summary of the article that you selected in your own words. Do not place your opinions to the summary section. Your personal comments must be placed in the response section.
You must include at least 3 in-text citations and provide an accurate reference of your selected article in APA style. These 3 in-text citations can be chosen from one source that you selected, or can be added from outside research of the same topic.
In-text citation: APA in-text citation style uses the author’s last name and the year of publication, for example: (Field, 2015). For direct quotations, include the page number as well, for example: (Field, 2015, p. 14). For more than one author: (Stoker et al., 2017, p. 1)
Please include the accurate references in APA style.
A reference in APA style for the article: Make sure to write the title of the JOURNAL, not to the title of the article, in Italics.
Example:
Mihaly, K., Opper, I., Rodriguez, L., Schwartz, H., Grimm, G., & Mariano, L. (2018). Impact of a checklist on principal–teacher feedback conferences following classroom observations. The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Southwest. Retrieved from https://ies.ed.gov/ncee/edlabs/projects/project.asp?projectID=457.
If you are familiar with Chicago style footnotes, you may write the reference of your selected article in Chicago style as well.
D. Your own responses to the topic within the article:
Describe specific connections with the information and its applicability to your own teaching.
If the article discusses topics other than your own area, research more on the similar topics around your area and add your outside research to the paper by comparing it with the article that you selected.
Write the paper as a final version that is organized and grammatically sound.
E. The conclusion and your final thoughts, including the answers to your 2 critical thinking questions:
Conclude your paper with your final thoughts and the answers to your own questions.
Offer resources by the title/authors, publishing year, and the website address, if any.
F. Upload the final version of your Article Review #1 to this link as a .doc or .docx file. Please be sure your submission is in final form and upholds the University’s policy for academic integrity.

To wrap-up:
1. Post your article review paper with the summary, 2 critical thinking questions, your own responses with application ideas, and the conclusion with the answers to your own questions (6 full pages total, double-spaced, 12-font). The suggestions include 3 pages of the summary and another 3 pages from the rest of the requirements (your responses/application ideas, 2 questions/answers, and the conclusion). This is a minimum requirement. Therefore, I expect more than the minimum. Please gather additional information from your outside research to strengthen the quality of the paper.
2. Provide at least 3 in-text citations and present an accurate reference of your selected article in APA style. You don’t need to include the abstract, header/footer, etc. For the six authors, you may list with their last names, first initials one by one for the first five authors and then put & before the last author such as Sullivan, K., Barkowski, E., Lindsay, J., Lazarev, V., Nguyen, T., Newman, D., & Lin, L. (2017). However, when you cite it in the text, you simply add the first author such as Sullivan et al., 2017, p. 3.
3. Please do not forget to present the reference of your original article from the link and add additional references to the project, if any. Listing the reference of your selected article is required. Using Chicago style footnotes is also accepted.
NOTE: These articles were selected from the same Journal. Therefore, write the title of the journal in Italics such as REL Southwest, after the title of the article. No peer discussion responses for this assignment!
