For the revision showcase assignment, students will revise and resubmit their evaluation essays. In the original evaluation essay assignment, students chose a topic (notetaking, planning, or listing) and selected two apps (one from Office 365 and one from the Google or Apple app store) to compare and contrast based on a set of criteria. (OneNote and notability)
Format
The format will follow the evaluation outline.
I. Introduction and thesis: provide general background information about your subject and include your thesis. The thesis should include statement/conclusion about your subject.
II. Elaboration of judgement: describe what you’ve concluded about your subject. To set up your judgement, include a comparison and contrast table.
III. Criteria 1: Discuss your subject in detail in relation to your first criterion.

Audience
Students in their first year of college
Purpose
To explain the importance of the specified topic (notetaking, planning, or listing) and help students select an app that will support them with notetaking, planning, or listing.
Specifications
•
Compare and contrast two apps related to your chosen topic; one app needs to be selected from your Office 365 account and the second app can be selected from the app store (Google, Apple, etc.)
•
Your thesis statement should include your judgement about the apps
•
In the introduction, you should use the background information for your topic discussed in the reading exercises in workshop 10. You need to include at least three sources. Don’t forget to cite your sources when you use them in your essay. If you need help with citation, you can search for examples and “how-to” instructions. To do so, type how do I cite in-text in MLA style in your browser.
•
The essay needs to be 750-1000 words (that’s 3-5 double-spaced pages) with standard margins and fonts
•
Include a comparison and contrast table in your “judgement” section
•
Each body paragraph should include only one criterion. The criteria are the three elements you used to compare and contrast the apps
•
Body paragraphs need to be written in PIE form
•
Don’t include any headings or subheadings in your paper
•
Include a reflection with your essay that details the feedback you received from the Smarthinking Tutor and from your peers on Persuall and explains how you used the feedback to improve your paper.

The paper needs to be MLA formatted: 1 inch margins on the top, bottom, and sides, the first word in every paragraph should be indented 1/2 inch, sources need to be cited in MLA in the body of the paper and on a Works Cited page, 12-point size, double-space (including the Works Cited).
