Motivational or Commemorative Speech – an organized speech designed to inspire audience members to improve their lives in some way, either through their own experiences (Motivational) or the experiences of others (Commemorative). While sources are not required, students should cite any sources that are used or referenced. An outline or fully written out speech (This is the only speech you may read word for word), note cards (if used), and a works cited (if necessary) must accompany this speech. The speech should be 3-5 minutes long. Five 3” x 5” note cards used, introduction, signposting, transitions, identification of main points, conclusion, restatement of main points, works cited (in proper form), proper citation of sources in delivered speech.
