Journal Article Review Instructions
Attached below is a sample journal article review (1 article only) and the associated article. Please follow the layout and format for your four article reviews (you may put all 4 reviews into one document). Attach copies of the original studies to your submission.
Instructions: Find four (4) scholarly articles from within the last five (5) years that pertain to research done on topics related to the pharmacology of drugs and alcohol. Go to Pollock Library’s basic search
(Links to an external site.)
and start by entering a search term or terms related to a drug or topic you are particularly interested in (e.g., “methamphetamine effects on the brain,” or “marijuana effects on memory,” or, just the name of a drug, e.g. “ecstacy” or “mdma,” etc.).
Choose 4 articles on different topics or on similar topics, as you wish. Write approximately a 2-page, double-spaced summary/review of each article (please put all 4 reviews a single Word document). Cite each journal article using APA format (author, title, journal, year/edition/pages) at the beginning of each summary.
Begin each review with a summary of the research (discuss the research method used, number of subjects, length of the study, where the study was done, who did it, the outcomes, etc.). If you have room, you may comment about the article/study, (e.g., Did you think it was interesting, were you surprised by the outcomes they found, were there enough subjects?[a good research study in social science has at least 30 subjects; in medicine it could be thousands or tens of thousands]). Any other thoughts you have can be used to finish your summary.
