Select ONE time-frame of development from the following choices (middle childhood, adolescence,
early adulthood, middle adulthood, or late adulthood). Write a hypothetical story (At least 2 FULL
pages, APA Style, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins) about an individual’s
Psychosocial Development during the selected time-frame of life. The only source required in
writing this paper is the textbook. Provide a Title page, in-text citations, and a Reference page
(should at least include the textbook).
Include the following in your hypothetical story:
– What is the individual’s age, and what stage of life span development is this individual
experiencing, per the categories indicated in our course textbook (middle childhood, adolescence,
early adulthood, middle adulthood, or late adulthood)?
– In your story, include a discussion of AT LEAST TWO social or emotional factors in the
individual’s life and HOW each factor is an example of psychosocial development. The
explanation supporting each factor should be thoroughly explained and clearly defined. Write the
factors in bold print. For example, “It is evident that relationships are important to Kelly. Kelly
spent the evening with family members discussing their recent trip to Florida, and how it would be
great if this would become a family tradition. Kelly is demonstrating a secure attachment and a
strong relationship with others, and is setting a goal of continuing to grow a healthy family
relationship.” (Be certain to include social or emotional factors – do not include physical or
cognitive factors.)
– In your story, include a discussion of WHICH stage in Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages of
Development your hypothetical individual is experiencing, and an example of HOW this Stage is
being illustrated in their life. For example, “Marian is experiencing Erikson’s Generativity versus
Stagnation Stage of Psychosocial Development (Rathus, 2020). Marian is showing evidence of
Generativity, as she has decided to start a new family tradition of planning a small weekend
getaway the first week of August each year for her children and grandchildren. Her family members
were surprised when they first received the invitation, but they are looking forward to sharing the
weekend with family, and welcome the new tradition. Marian cherishes the time she spends with her
family, and experiences happiness when reflecting on her positive relationships with them.”
– Use APA style references and citations of the source(s) of information used in
creating this document.
