Reframing Aging Issues

Hello Class,
This week, as we discuss the questions below, answer them through the perspectives discussed in this chapter.
Aging issues need to be reframed as a shared national concern, not as the sole responsibility for older adults and their families to resolve. Solutions will require innovation and creativity that break from previous patterns and strategies that worked in. Broadly answer these questions with the chapters information in mind. When you reply to a classmate, add new material to the discussion to expand the discussion and increase overall class learning.
Discussion 1:
Why are countries aging at different rates? Why is aging a global concern?
How are gender, race, and ethnicity associated with educational achievement, employment opportunities, and financial security?
Discussion 2:
Is greater reliance on informal caregiving a plausible solution to the challenges of providing care to a bigger population of older adults? Why or why not?
How do stereotypes and ageism affect individuals’ health and wellbeing?
Discussion 3:
Reply to a classmate’s post that you feel addresses the topics well. Add to their discussion with additional material. Expand this discussion to further explore the material we have covered this week and in this course (looking back).
