For this assignment, you will be reading Drink Cultura by Jose Antonio Burciaga. Drink Cultura highlights and centers the experience of Chicanas/os/xs via short essays. Burciaga weaves in his personal experiences and stories to discuss Chicana/o/x history, values, beliefs, and traditions.
After reading the book, write a 3-4 page analysis. Your essay should include at least threetopics(i.e. Language, history, connection to indigneous roots, traditions, resistance, art, etc.) that you learned more about and that has helped you better understand Chicana/o/x Pop Culture. You can also discuss how the text helped you understand more about your experience, community, and/or family ( however you define family). Your analysis should also include your understanding of Burciaga’s objective(s) and audience, main arguments, connections to the other course texts, and conclusions about the book . Be sure to put any quotes from the book in quotation marks and to cite any sources used.
You should have an introduction, discussion/analysis of the book, and clear conclusion .
