General instructions:
Now that you have written an outline and received some feedback, you are ready to write your final draft of Writing Project Three.
You will definitely need to add some things and revise some things when you get to the final draft. Here are some things to think about as you work:
1. Use transition language to make smooth connections among your ideas. You definitely need to make transitions in your topic sentences because you introduce a new idea in each topic sentence. Here is a link with common transition language:

2.Include enough detail and explanation in each example to support your main idea. Be sure to use the best quote possible for making your point. AND be sure to explain each quote clearly. Don’t include quotes that don’t help your case.
3. Do use spelling and grammar check in Microsoft Word. They are not always correct, but nine times out of ten, they will catch a real error. Here are instructions for turning on and using spell and grammar check:

4. Make sure your final draft is at least 1100 words long. This is an absolute minimum. Strong essays may be up to twice that long.
5. Be sure to complete the response to the feedback you have been given. It should be placed at the end of the essay. It is not a part of the essay but it will be easier to find if you don’t post it as a seperate document.
6. Write your response to the feedback on the outline. Additionally, for this response I want you to discuss your work in general over the course of the semester – what you have learned and improved and what you want to continue to work on. This response should be paragraphed and it should be specific. You want to be able to quote yourself here from your past paper. And you want to write at least 600 words. Attach this response to the end of you paper after the Works Cited.
TEACHER SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS:
Hello Kelsey
I am so proud of everyone in class. You and your peers have managed to make is through the semester despite the anxiety of our times in the outside world and that is wonderful!
There are a couple of things: You did not use the template from project two and you don’t have any citations. Citing quotes and ideas from other sources is very important and it’s one of the most important skills from the class. It is central to academic writing.
This assignment is one of my favorites. Given what you have here, I think you understand the concepts well. Remember, ethos is when speakers talk about their own experiences with the topic; logos is typically found in the data speakers cite, and pathos is found in the moments that the speaker is trying to get the audience to feel something. Almost every successful argument established ethos. If we don’t trust the speaker, we don’t trust the argument! When you develop this outline into a paper, keep coming back to these three concepts as you compare and contrast the way the two TED Talks you have chosen (I love these TED Talks) employ the elements of the rhetorical triangle. Also, as you work, you want to remember to discuss how these elements are useful in this particular speech as a method of persuasion. Don’t use writers’ first names in writing. Use the full name once then use the last names only. Using first names are too informal.
Don’t forget to write the response section of the final assignment. The instructions are different for this response so please go back and check the assignment as you write to make sure you are doing what’s being asked.
I’ve really enjoyed this class. Most in your class have done such a good job with some difficult concepts. Keep thinking and keep writing. Writing is just thinking on paper and I can think of no better way to success than by becoming a deeper and more careful thinker. As old as I am, I’m still working on developing my own abilities to think through problems that present themselves to me on a daily basis!
I really have enjoyed reading your work. Please feel free to contact me in the future if you need help with any of your writing. I am more than happy to do what I can!
Best, Dr. Williams
